TRIATHLETES aiming to shave a few valuable seconds off their time at next month’s Osim Singapore International Triathlon should consider using the adidas ClimaCool Kona racing shoe.
Specifically designed for multi-sport athletes who have to switch between sports, such as from swimming to cycling to running, the shoe was launched in Singapore three months ago.
It is named after the district of Kona on the western coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, which hosts to the Ironman World Championships triathlon each year.
Retailing in Singapore for $169, it boasts a lace-less system.
It uses plastic cords and a ratchet which will secure it to a foot with a pull of a tab at the back of the shoe.
This means that triathletes or biathletes transitioning from the various disciplines will not have to waste time fumbling around with their shoelaces.
Besides being a race-day shoe for triathletes looking for the extra edge in competitions, the Kona is touted as suitable for fast-paced training.
Its outsole features several openings for greater breathability.
It also allows water or sweat to drain out to prevent blisters or chafing.
The ClimaCool material,louboutin boots, patented by adidas, is also used to increase ventilation within the shoe.
The curved shoe design means that it is built more for speed than stability.
And at a scant 10.1 ounces (290g) for a size-nine model,christian louboutin heels, the Kona is definitely geared towards fast running and faster times.
